Are You A Matilda? Find Out For Yourself…..

That little girl Matilda balances out all those cruel, insensitive people and those bullies portrayed in the book – don’t you agree? My M post for the A to Z Challenge is obviously Matilda by Roald Dahl. I have to catch up with visiting and commenting and will try to keep up with the Blogging from A to Z Challenge – April 2018  and the Ultimate Blog Challenge – April 2018. (Please read my note to my readers here )

Reading this book makes me both sad (for this lonely, neglected child) and happy (for her forever optimism and for books). Roald Dahl sure knows how to write for all audiences and I have enjoyed reading ‘The Wonderful World of Henry Sugar‘ as much as I love ‘Danny – The Champion of the World‘ or Matilda.

One of my favorite quotes has to be the one that is at the top/most liked on GoodReads

“So Matilda’s strong young mind continued to grow, nurtured by the voices of all those authors who had sent their books out into the world like ships on the sea. These books gave Matilda a hopeful and comforting message: You are not alone.”

Matilda reads a great many books and when I read the names of those books, I paused to think if I had read them. While I am glad I have read a few, I have two-thirds of the way to go still. What about you? How many have you read? You can take this quiz below to find out for yourself..

Q to the Reader: Books recommended in favorite books always tend to tempt me, and though I do not always get to reading them immediately or even seemingly forever, I add them to my Mt. TBR… What books have you discovered this way that you actually completed reading?

    1. 🙂 don’t worry, I am right there with you… and all those I read had been read years before (though not required books for me) so none after I read Matilda (which I actually read more recently)

  1. I got “hey, you are awesome! Keep going,” and “you are bookworming . towards the middle of the set.” And to support my position, I haven’t actually read Matilda, either. Just have seen the movie, which I loved!!

  2. I haven’t read too many of these classics. Many of them were read in school as reqruied reading. I guess, although I read a lot, I’m not really into classics.

  3. I love Ronald Dahl! He is one of my favorite authors! James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and of course the follow up, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, and Fantastic Mr. Fox!

I was surprised to see how many of the titles you listed in the poll that I read!

    Thanks!

  4. That list of books brought back memories of when I use to read often. I really need to get back to ready! I remember when my grandchildren read Matilda!
