Notepad and a pen over it with a cup of coffee next to it. words read Sunday Scribblings, and this is for Sunday Scribblings #223: A Limerick for Moms and More Miscellany

Poetic Sundays: A Limerick for Moms Everywhere

Note that this likely cannot be called a true limerick (maybe not in spirit for it is sweeter and sappier than most but it does follow the structure of 5 lines, 8-9 syllables in lines 1, 2, and 5 which all rhyme, and 5-6 syllables in lines 3 and 4 which rhyme as well).

So here goes! My limerick-lines for moms

Here’s to moms who all do their share,
Whether they swear, pull at hair, or care.
They hustle, they shout,
Then laugh it all out —
And somehow they’re still always there!

  1. I so love that catchy little Mother’s Day poem so much! Very cool and such a great way to describe creating one for myself 🙂

  2. Once again, another great poem! I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day, I spent the day with my kids and grandkids, and it was so precious.

  3. I love to see the regular foodie celebrations included in your posts. I will be marking BBQ day on my calendar and making sure we celebrate that!!

  4. I loved the blend of humor and heart in your limerick! It perfectly captures the rollercoaster joy of motherhood.

  5. What a cute poem! I hope you had a great Mother’s Day alongside your loved ones. In my country. Mother’s day is on the 9th of March, so we celebrated already.

  6. What a beautiful piece and yes this is true! Our moms may get mad at us but they are always there whenever we need them. We are so lucky to have them in our lives.
