Five Fabulous Finds to Love and Have: Beauty and Books

So featuring five fabulous finds to love and have where the finds are beauty/accessories/etc related is a bit different from my normal posts, ok, I admit, a whole lot different actually. But being a teen mom means that I have found myself shopping for products like this more often in the past couple of years. And so I decided it is high time I work on the parenting/lifestyle aspects of my blog (that little bit of everything part)! But then again, I need my reading part too, so I also feature five fabulous finds to love and have that are bookish in nature.

First off, I will start off with the fab things that my teen loves and ends up having (or will, pretty soon, since it is in some shopping cart or the other waiting for that submit button).

This post contains Amazon and other affiliate links, that at no additional cost to you, I may earn a small commission. Please see the full disclosure for more information. I only recommend products I would (or have already) use myself.

Five Fabulous Finds: Beauty & Accessories for Teens & Adults Too!

Tree Hut’s Body Butter

Tree Hut’s Tropic Glow Firming Whipped Body Butter @ Ulta (priced at $10.49 for 8.4 oz currently)

My teen loves this one – not just for the amazing smell (according to her, it smells sweet and nutty and kind of beachy), but also because it leaves skin soft and is non-greasy. Plus, she says that it is a ‘dupe’ of the pricier Bum Bum Cream from Sol de Janeiro 🙂 As for me, I might just steal it from her….

PanOxyl Maximum Strength Antimicrobial Acne Foaming Wash

PanOxyl Maximum Strength Antimicrobial Acne Foaming Wash for Face, Chest and Back with 10% Benzoyl Peroxide @ Target ($10.39 for 5.5 oz)

Both my kids swear this works on their acne, and while I don’t normally see the blemishes on them (as a mom, I guess I am blind to that), I do see a difference. Plus, one of the best prices I have seen consistently for this item is on Target which works for me! As it means I can order it online and earn myself a Target run so I can ‘pick up’ this needed item 😉

xPRESS/On Special Effect Press On Nails

xPRESS Press On Nails @ Ulta (price varies based on the color/type you want)

Again, my teen loves this. And as for me, it is easier than getting her to a manicure (plus, way more reasonably priced too). Another bonus, you can change it more easily – so she has one set she got for her birthday earlier this year, and another (pictured here) to match her prom outfit (for Junior Prom which is coming soon and given my son never got to attend prom – thanks to Covid, this is the first one for us as a family too!)

As for set one, she is keeping them aside to reuse later (maybe for Halloween, since it is midnight purple.. and her dad did say it looks witchy!)

PanOxyl Spot Patches

PanOxyl PM Overnight Spot Patches

Another thing that seems to work for my teens (well, the older one is no longer a teen as of three months ago, but ..) This one also helps in the sense that it covers up the really troublesome looking acne (for them) while clearing them up underneath

Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm

Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm

This helps draw the line between lipsticks (which is makeup and not really needed for school) and regular lip balm (which is a good to have, and sometimes needed); and helps resolve many discussions (debates?) before they happen…Plus, the price factor for something that is not harmful and is organic!

Five Fabulous Finds: The Bookish Spring Edition

Journal

Bienbee Vintage Journal, Leather Journal Notebook for Women

I got this journal for myself earlier this year and love it. It is spring-y and joyful to simply look at, of course – as pretty as the picture. And then, it is well made, with pages that don’t leak through when I use ink on them.

The pens I got for use with this book are fab too – with many colors and perfect for writing

Bibliophile Ceramic Vase

Bibliophile Ceramic Vase: A Compendium of Flowers

So I don’t have this one at home yet, but I have decided this is my Mother’s Day advance gift for myself this year! There is also a smaller desk vase which you could use for keeping supplies (pens/pencils and such).

Ninja Dual Brew

Ninja DualBrew Pro Specialty Coffee System, Single-Serve & 12-Cup Drip Coffee Maker CFP301 @ Kohl’s ($179.99 – sale price + Kohl’s coupons + cash back – means I got it for $130!)

We all need to have some kind of brew while reading, right? No matter what your choice of drink is, the Ninja DualBrew can help you make it – grounds/pods/just hot water.. coffee/tea or coffee or cocoa pods/etc. And we are enjoying it for the past couple of weeks already.

Coffee Mug

Reading Gifts Book Heart Bookshelf Tumbler Cup

I am torn between this one here because, who can resist bookshelves full of books, right? And this other insulated tumbler which features an image of a girl and lots of books and florals for that spring-feel – with the caption – Just a Girl Who Loves Books

Blind Date With a Book

Or a blind date with a book via Etsy

Speaking of books, here is my current (one of my) read and my look into it by way of fun weekly memes.

Five Fabulous Finds: Other Bookish Things

A Bit of Earth by Karuna Riazi | HarperCollins Children’s Books (14 Mar 2023) | Children’s Fiction/Middle Grade

With a prickly main character in Maria Latif, a sullen boy, two friendly allies, and a locked garden, A Bit of Earth has everything a reader could want from a retelling of The Secret Garden. Karuna Riazi’s evocative prose is interspersed with poetic verses, illuminating each character’s search for a place they can truly call home. This tender yet incisive reimagining of a classic work will captivate fans of the original—and widen the appeal for a modern audience.

  1. I like the coffee mug. It looks interesting. Coffee is a good drink to accompany my reading, maybe one of the books from your list.

  2. Oh I love your new coffee maker! I want it! I like the mug with the girl on it better. You could always get both right?🤦‍♀️Have a wonderful week Vidya and happy reading!🤗📚☕💜

    1. Too well and too long for her dad’s comfort :-)! They stayed on my teen for well over a week without issues despite the fact that she washes her hands way too many times..And she said that if she had used some addnl glue/some sort of powder, that helps it stay longer..
