It is I Love to Write Day today. No, really, there is a day set aside for that though I do love to write today, and everyday as well!

So Why do I Love to Write?
I wrote about why I write earlier and those reasons remain true.
Writing lets me look at my thoughts concretely and to sort through them, take them apart, and put them together again.
Looking for Order
In essence, writing helps me untangle the chaos of messy, helter-skelter thoughts darting across the mazes of my mind. It gives me a chance to say the things I couldn’t in the moment.
Maybe it’s because I didn’t have the time to piece my thoughts together. Or perhaps they stayed deep in that maze, only coming to the forefront much later, with that all-too-familiar feeling of “I wish I’d said that!” And maybe some things felt too difficult to be said aloud.
Writing gives me the leisure and freedom to pour these thoughts onto the page. Flannery O’Connor perfectly captures this feeling:
“I write because I don’t know what I think until I read what I say.”
Sharing Secrets (Maybe Not!)
I also write to share stories—little discoveries, moments of delight, or things I’ve done.
Take this past weekend, for example. DH and I revisited a place we’ve been countless times before: Madronia Cemetery, just a short walk from home.
Each visit brings something new. Sometimes, it’s a freshly added memorial stone; other times, it’s the quiet reverence of a family honoring their loved ones.
But this time, I stumbled upon something else—a name I recognized: Thomas Kinkade. Yes, the famed “Painter of Light” is resting right in our neighborhood cemetery!
How had I missed it before? Then I recalled that charcoal-black squirrel darting along the same path on previous visits. Whenever I saw it, I was distracted..
Simply Because
And then I write simply because, or like Gloria Steinem says, “Writing is the only thing that, when I do it, I don’t feel I should be doing something else.” (Though reading is also one of those activities, for me)
Ultimately, I write because it brings me clarity, joy, and connection—both with myself and with the world around me.
The Bookish Five: Write Me a Love Story (I’d Love to Write One!)
Write Me A Love Story by Ravinder Singh (Romance)
A tale that brings together a fiery romance novelist and a pragmatic literary editor who are forced to collaborate despite their clashing ideologies. While sparks fly and banter ensues, deeper emotions unravel as they navigate professional rivalry, creative differences, and undeniable chemistry.

I leave them untouched but I do love to inscribe when/where/why I got the book on the front cover page. But I do love finding old books in used book stores that have some annotations or footnotes within!

There truly are days for everything now…. I simply cannot keep up but had no idea that I Love to Write Day was a thing. Thank you so much for sharing this with me and I am more of a lover of reading than writing lol……
I totally relate with the reasons you love writing as well. I love telling stories, but I also love sharing tips, recipes I find delicious, and so many other things about that I adore. These are just a few reasons why I Love To Write.
It is a fun idea to look for books that have writing in them. It is neat to look for the story behind the book. I also love the idea of just putting pen to paper for 5 minutes a day, it is a great exercise.
It feels good when you are reading a book that you are part of it.
I will definitely grab a copy of your recommended books for my holiday readings.
What an wonderful idea, to un books that have writing in hem, I love the story behind it. I have to check it out a copy of the books.
