Sundays are our free days – days free of classes for the kids, days where we are free from chaperoning, shuttling them around to places and events (unless someone happens to have a birthday party, thankfully, not this Sunday!) – days for us to relax, to just chill – unless… there are loads of laundry waiting our attention, sink full of dishes.. well, you get it. This Sunday has been a bit like that, but at the end of it all, I feel satisfied – a clean garage (we threw out tons of stuff we did not know we had), an almost empty sink, and all our laundry folded for now. This feeling of having done what needed to be done – is just wonderful! And for all other days, when I just cannot get to doing these things, there is a quote for me:
Here are my entries for my regular, favorite Sunday memes .
For Magpie Tales: (the image is to the right), Sunday Whirl (the words are in the whirlie image to the right), One
Single Impression (prompt is ‘marriage’)
Single Impression (prompt is ‘marriage’)
As he hung his black next to the yellow,
He smiled; he remembered himself from a lifetime ago –
‘His sisters sang “In life, first comes love, at some age
Then comes marriage, Then comes baby in a carriage”…
He had heard this many times, wherever he went,
And wished his sisters would remain silent.
Not that he was worried, of course, he himself was invincible,
But unknown to him, he was but a pawn in the grandest game
of all
of all
His pride had gone bust, ( for Pride goes before a fall)
When, one day, what did he find – looking through an ocean
of faces
of faces
But a dazzling beauty; it felt like his heart was on fire, as
if he had run one too many races.
if he had run one too many races.
This magical feeling, it was so strong, He was not sorry he
had been wrong,
had been wrong,
At last he realized he felt like he could belong; Unless……she
said no, we can’t get along…
said no, we can’t get along…
But No! That could not happen, that was not feasible; He of
course, was invincible!’
course, was invincible!’
Yes, he was, he thought. Where first there was only black
Now there was also sunshine yellow on the rack.
For Succinctly Yours: (image is below, isn’t is cute? and the word is ‘generic’) and for Sunday
Scribblings (word is ‘silence’)
(85 characters with spaces)
All very creative! And I love the romantic touch with the yellow raincoat.
thank you!
The Magpie was excellent and the micro, great fun.

Cleverly done.
thank you Cosmo
That's a sweet turn ov events in your Magpie Tales story…I like it!
Great SY story, too. The silence speaks volumes!
thanks Pat! Silence does manage to say a lot..
I love your what I call 'combo' post. You did so well, very good, excellent, in using all those prompt words and still having a cute story in your rhyming poem. Marriage was the theme, he fell for it like many men do, all the way.
Also am with you on the bananas. I like Chiquita the best. That may be because of an old song, too old for you have heard, about Chiquita Bananas. The same goes for pineaple and cantalope also.
Lastly, if you live within driving distance and some time come this way you could help with our messy garage. A real mess, we need to through bunches of old stuff away. Or give it away.

Chiquita Banana (1944)
sung by Carmen Miranda
I'm Chiquita banana and I've come to say
Bananas have to ripen in a certain way
When they are fleck'd with brown and have a golden hue Bananas taste the best and are best for you
You can put them in a salad
You can put them in a pie-aye
Any way you want to eat them
It's impossible to beat them
But, bananas like the climate of the very, very tropical equator
So you should never put bananas in the refrigerator

I can barely manage one prompt … let alone multiples!!! Nice job!!
thank you Helen.. it is easier for me to put multiple prompts together than come up with separate posts/poems/stories for each one.. and most weeks, i manage to string them all together..
Oh my !! you are such a genius .. combining all these so beautifully …
far from a genius but thanks so much for your words!
