Be You: A Reader, Writer, or Anything: It’s All Amazing You

I realized I use this phrase – Be You – many times over, in comments on other’s posts, in my own posts, and even in conversations with others. It is a short, sweet, inspiring, and empowering affirmation all in these two words!

Be You: The Books Edition

You Are a Reader! / You Are a Writer!

You Are a Reader! / You Are a Writer!  by April Jones Prince and illustrated by Christine Davenier (Children’s Stories in Verse | 6 – 8 years, and up | Margaret Ferguson Books | July 18, 2023)

Description: You are a Reader! / You are a Writer! is a book made to be read twice, once from the front and once from the back. Read one way, children will see all the joys that reading can bring–flip it over and they’ll be inspired by the imaginative possibilities of writing!

First, love the concept.. (have always loved this concept of flip-it books!) that adds to the element of fun for readers young and old. Second, this of course means we get double the fun – two books in one. Third – showing that indisputable connection between reading and writing with imagination! Next – I totally loved both the creative rhyming verses and the sweet adorable illustrations! Last but not the least, the book offers up so many ways to read and write, inspiring the reader and writer within us in myriad fashions!

So pick up this book, for yourself, or for the young reader/writer in your life, or because this is a book that needs to be read!

Quotes

Sharon Creech’s quotes about ‘you’.(July 29th birthday)

“What I have since realized is that if people expect you to be brave, sometimes you pretend that you are, even when you are frightened down to your very bones.”

“Every character is asking: Whats my place? Why am I here? I dont want the answer to be Just because. You find your own purpose. Each finds the reason to be here and how to contribute.”

“You know, maybe that’s all anybody wants, is to be useful. And have somebody else notice it.”
