Moonlit Tales of Life and Love

For this month’s Six Degrees of Separation, I followed a lunar-themed and timeless thread through moonlit tales of life and love – stories that explore family, love, and the sometimes peculiar but always interesting ways people live their lives

And why not join in on Six Word Stories over at Travel with Intent as well with these moonlit tales of life and love, using this older picture I took that fits the theme. From a trip to the NYC – window shopping at the Barnes and Noble in the Times Square area.

Moonlit Tales of Life and Love Across the Seven …

We Have Always Lived in the Castle –> Tuck Everlasting –> Love You Forever –> I Love You to the Moon and Back –> The First Men on the Moon –> How We Got to the Moon –> The Girl Who Drank the Moon –> We Have Always Lived in the Castle

We Have Always Lived in the Castle –> Tuck Everlasting

The Link: always and everlasting, and characters living apart from society in their own world

As always, I am yet to read the starter book of this month’s SixDegrees, Shirley Jackson’s We Have Always Lived in the Castle, though I have read some of her short stories, including the ever-famous The Lottery.

I’m linking it to Tuck Everlasting partly because of the similar words – always and everlasting – in the titles, and partly because Jackson’s characters—with their isolated routines and quiet, peculiar world—reminded me, in a way, of the Tucks, who also live apart from society and move through life with their own mysterious rhythms.

Tuck Everlasting –> Love You Forever

The Link:  again the feeling of forever….

Robert Munsch’s Love You Forever is much loved and well-known so I do not have to say more, except, I do love it a lot!

Love You Forever –> I Love You to the Moon and Back

The Link:  Love you lots!!

Simpler link between two sweet reads talking about the love of parent and child. I Love You to the Moon and Back is such a sweet sweet read, and also the words on a wall hanging in our room – gifted one father’s day from our daughter!

I Love You to the Moon and Back –> The First Men on the Moon

The Link:  Moon, of course

I have us going back and forth to the moon with this link!! H. G. WellsThe First Men on the Moon did not impress me as much his The War of the Worlds did but he holds my respect for being one of the fathers of science fiction.

The First Men on the Moon –> How We Got to the Moon

The Link:  Going to the moon!!

John Rocco’s How We Got to the Moon is a stunning non-fiction read. I came upon it once upon a Cybils awards judging round, and was glad I did. You will love it.

How We Got to the Moon –> The Girl Who Drank the Moon

The Link: mooning about still..

Kelly Barnhill books stun, and I am sure The Girl Who Drank the Moon is no different. I loved her The Ogress and the Orphans.

The Girl Who Drank the Moon –> We Have Always Lived in the Castle

The Link:  Secrets and isolation once again

Closing up the chain feels good, like seeing a stunning full moon…

And Now, the End of This Post

Dear reader, have you read any of the books on this chain? Which ones? And which one would you pick up to read first among these? I’d love to hear your list or your take on this bookish chain. And if you haven’t tried the Six Degrees of Separation challenge before, join in with us this month!
