“Aren’t I a handsome fellow?”, he seems to ask me as I try to get a closer look. He was just inches away from arms length as I gazed at him. And, man, was I envious of the girl who came by next and actually managed to pet him..!
I am talking about the giraffe pictured here. I captured this shot today as I sat on the top of a jeep at Safari West in Santa Rosa, CA. He was just inches away from me (just a little away from arms length). As our jeep moved away to let the next group come by, he moved a little closer towards the jeeps and the girl who was in the next jeep (sitting where I was in ours!) actually petted him as he nuzzled towards her.. (lucky her!)

My oldest daughter loved giraffes when she was little…we have an abundance of giraffe themed toys and games in the attic 🙂 They are really interesting creatures!
Giraffes must be a universal delight for nature lovers…not only for their size, but because of their coloration.
I do enjoy giraffes (and zoos!). That reminds me that I need to take my youngest grandson…soon.

Wow. You are chock-full of memes! The giraffe photo is amazing. I've never been at a wildlife sanctuary or zoo where they let you touch the animals, except in France where the rules are a little more lax. Here's Mine

That is so cool! I love safari parks like that, but I've never gotten that close to a giraffe before (although an ostrich did try to stick it's head in our car once when I was very little – it's my only memory from that particular trip).
