Here are my challenges for this year. As I put them all together in a neat little package, I kept thinking, is this too much, but then as I mentioned in my earlier post for today, reading is fun, reading challenges add more variety to the fun and I am doing the challenges for the fun of it. So, the ‘Super-me'(need to get some reading superpowers! or powers to make extra time) is ready for these challenges in 2012.

1. A book with a topographical feature (land formation) in the title: Black Hills, Purgatory Ridge, Emily of Deep Valley
2. A book with something you’d see in the sky in the title: Moon Called, Seeing Stars, Cloud Atlas
3. A book with a creepy crawly in the title: Little Bee, Spider Bones, The Witches of Worm
4. A book with a type of house in the title: The Glass Castle, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, Ape House
5. A book with something you’d carry in your pocket, purse, or backpack in the title: Sarah’s Key, The Scarlet Letter, Devlin Diary
6. A book with a something you’d find on a calendar in the title: Day of the Jackal, Elegy for April, Freaky Friday, Year of Magical Thinking

• The challenge is from Jan 1, 2012 to Dec 31, 2012
• The book titles are just suggestions, you can read whatever book you want to fit the category.

• Books may be any form (audio, print, e-book).
• Books may overlap other challenges.
• Books may not overlap categories; you need a different book for each category.
• Creativity for matching the categories is not only allowed but encouraged.
• You do not have to make a list of books before hand.
• You do not have to read through the categories in any particular order.

2012 e-book Challenge
Since many of the books I read are eBooks of some sort (including some of the picture books I read for the kids), I decided to participate in this and go at the 25 books level
Challenge Guidelines:

1. This challenge will run from Jan 1, 2012 – Dec 31, 2012.
2. Anyone can join, you don’t need to be a blogger. If you don’t have a
   blog, feel free to sign-up in the comments. You can post reviews to any
   book site (i.e. Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Smashwords, Goodreads, etc).
3. Any genre or length of book counts, as long as it is in ebook format.
4. You can list your books in advance or just put them in a wrap-up
   post. If you list them, feel free to change them as the mood takes you.
5. When you sign up in the linky, put the direct link to your post about joining the E-Book Reading Challenge.
6. You can move up levels, but no moving down.
7. Sign-ups will be open until Dec 15, 2012, so feel free to join at any time throughout the year. 

Books-published-in-the-first-years-of-my-life-challenge
I do not think I gave much thought to the year of publication of books and this sounded interesting. I have decided to start at the toddler level this year and if possible will go up a level.
What it is about?
Easy: pick up and read a book that was published in the first years of your life.
Just pick up 1 book per year.
There are four levels:
Levels:
– 3 years = Toddler
– 5 years = Kid
– 10 years = Pre-Teen
– 15 years or more = YA

Reading Romances Challenge 2012 
I have loved reading romances ever since my first Mills and Books about 20+ years ago now (I started reading them a little later than my friends did but still enjoy them) and this one challenges me to explore genres I have not before, so why not this challenge too?
Challenge Guidelines:

1. The 2012 Reading Romances Challenge will run from Jan 1, 2012 – Dec 31, 2012.
2. Anyone can join, you don’t need to have a blog.
   Feel free to sign-up in the comments – you can post reviews to any book
   site (i.e. Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Smashwords, Goodreads,
   Librarything, Shelfari etc).
3. I’ll post a list of romance sub-genres and a few cool themes for you to choose from each month (you can read all of them or just a couple).
4. You can list your books before reading
   them (by leaving a comment on the post with the topics for that month)
   or just put them in a wrap-up post. If you list them, don’t feel
   obligated to read them, changes are welcomed!
5. When you sign up in the linky, put the
   direct link to your post about joining the Reading Romances Challenge.

The League of Extra­or­di­nary Gen­tle­men Challenge 2012 
This is a movie I have not seen (not sure if I want to see it though) but I still find the theme interesting and will read a few books which I have not read at all (Fu Manchu novels, Allan Quatermain novels) and others I want to reread now(Jekyll and Hyde, Invisible Man, Sherlock Holmes). So here goes…
