Spooktacular Giveaway Blog Hop!

October brings to mind many things for me – birthdays of beloved family members and close friends, and festivals – so many of them! While the kids start planning their Halloween costumes in earnest, I plan on the sweets and snacks I think I will make for Deepavali (or Diwali – the festival of lights)- think being the operative word here! With Navaratri barely having waved goodbye to us, we have Diwali calling us forward followed by Halloween of course. And it is fun to celebrate everything – the lights and the costumes (and the sweets) all make this month spectacular indeed.
So to celebrate the same, here is something sweet – a $10 Amazon Gift Card to pick out a treat for yourself.
And to those of you who have visited earlier, I am trying out a new look on my blog – a big thanks to Aloi at Guiltless Reading and Dana Fox of The Wonder Forest and owner of Envye Design Shop for this template. I am still playing with it so as the hop progresses, you might see changes here ๐Ÿ™‚
Use the rafflecopter to enter the giveaway, and visit the many wonderful blogs to increase your chances at winning amazing prizes. Thank you to Kathy for hosting this hop.

  1. My favorite memory in October was my great niece being born exactly one month after my birthday in September. She is the first grandchild and first great niece in our family ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Mu favorite spooky book is The Shining by Stephen King.

I messed up the rafflecopter form, I entered the wrong name for the follow on Goodreads option. I followed as Ashfa Anwer.
    Sorry for the mess ๐Ÿ™

  3. October meant mostly clear weather back home (compared to the summer with its tons of thunderstorms). Pretty leaves all around (in the country, so lots of hills and trees with few people). Great stargazing weather ๐Ÿ™‚ And great weather for 4-wheeler riding!

  4. One of my favorite Halloween memories is from when I was in middle school. The Blair Witch Project had recently come out, so my mom and me decided to run with it. We made a body out of tomato cages, put a black dress on it, stuffed newspaper into the arms and shoulders, added black gloves for hands, and put a wig stand (the Styrofoam-face variety) on top for a head. We draped her with an old cape from when I'd gone as a witch years before, tacked on an old, green mask I'd made in art class on the wig stand, and put a black wig (also taken from a previous costume) on top. Then we pulled a witch's hat low over the face, and set her out by the door.

We didn't stop getting compliments on it all night!

  5. I read the book Spook when I was a kid. It's about a witches dog. It's a cute little childrens halloween story. I loved it! Not really spooky, but a fun halloween read!

  6. One of My favorite Halloween memories is trick-or-treating with my sister. My sister and I went as pumpkins in costumes made by my mother. Our costume were made out of cardboard boxes and we painted then orange and my mother colored our hair orange too! We loved it. It was the last 70s when Mom's still made your costumes.

  7. I love October! halloween, pretty tree colors, cooler weather, Oktoberfest and a local bookfest. How to pick just one as my favorite part of October is impossible!
