Amar Chitra Katha

So here are the top ten that I thought of… A few quick comments on them:

  • Song for Papa Crow – this is a much loved children’s picture book at home for both it illustrations and the story.
  • Oh! The Places You’ll Go – there is no introduction needed for Dr.Seuss’s classic book..:) One of my favorite items to gift in the past few years as well
  • Manga Classics: Pride and Prejudice – not sure how I did not review this book when I read it but I loved this version as well (having completed reading the book itself very recently)
  • Isabella: Girl on the Go (and other books in the series) – spunky Isabella endears!
  • Water Can Be – this book is magical, with words and illustrations flowing together seamlessly to show the changing faces of water through the seasons of the year and more
  • Cozy Classics – classics condensed into a board book with adorable felt characters
  • Asterix – this Gaul along with his loyal friend Obelix were some of favorite comic book heroes! But my favorite character in these comics is Getafix, the druid! I love his sense of humor
  • Calvin and Hobbes – this is a family favorite !
  • Amar Chitra Katha – ‘Amar
Chitra Katha’ (ACK) literally means ‘Immortal Picture Stories’ and these comic books let me (and so many other children around India) explore Indian mythology, history, and more
  • Indrajal comics – as a child growing up in India, along with the staple diet of Amar Chitra Katha (mentioned above), my brother and I also read Indrajal comics, which included  the world of Phantom (The Ghost who Walks), Mandrake the Magician, Flash Gordon and his space adventures, the heroic Bahadur and more.
