Another blast from the past with some updates and additions as always.. with both the old and the new, I am writing about that wonderful treasure trove of thanks we can give everyday.
A Treasure Trove of Thanks — Then
This section from the archives comes from Thanksgiving 2013….
For ABC Wednesday’s letter T, for Theme Thursday’s word Thankful, and for today, a day to give Thanks; Thanks for all that is good – in our lives and in the world, and a special thanks to all the readers of my blog who make my day, everyday! There is definitely always something to be Thankful about…
One more for ABC Wednesday’s letter T, for Theme Thursday’s word Thankful, and for dVerse’s Meeting the Bar where we explore unlikely comparisons Written years ago as a “recipe”, and now modified a bit and broken down
into a free style poem..
Life is a Treasure Trove Cake
Let us bake a cake of life
To begin, we
Need
Lots of love,
A few gently curving smiles,
Some laughter for flavor,
A spoonful of kindness
A tiny piece of help
Now mix in to this
Few drops of contentment
Loads of the forgiveness syrup too
Gently blend all
Bake it now with
The warmth of friendship,
Of family..
Let it bask in some
Happiness.
Serve it with joy
Bake one more to share
Decorate them with
Essence of joy
Fruits of care
Some icing of feeling safe,
And lo, you have the very best world
Take a bite and you will see –
You do have a lot …
to be …
Thankful For..

The Treasure Trove Today
The feelings about life being a treasure trove haven’t changed though I would try to rewrite that poem some!!! And that drawing my kiddo made then – I still cherish it! Though now both of them have so many more works of art that I love to share (a couple below here today from the past couple of years)
Despite everything else that has happened over the past year and more, I am thankful that I am able to write this post of thanks, for it means so many things, it means I have
the ways and means to do so, you see
a family that loves and inspires me
friends who are there for all times
so many to read my (even the cringy) rhymes
a wonderful group of supporting readers
oh look, an overflowing thankfulness meter!!

What a sweet metaphor.. If just all lifes could be baked like that.. seems like the simplest recipes are the hardest to make…

What a beautiful recipe for life! Such a lovely reminder to appreciate the simple, meaningful things that make life so sweet.
I have been blessed this year. I was able to meet a few financial goals. I paid off my credit card and only use it to pay for certain things to earn the cash back. It’s not much but every little bit helps. Then I started making extra payments on my car. My escrow dropped on my mortgage and I have kept paying what it was to slowly chip away at the principal even if it’s only an extra 24 dollars. I’m trying to pay off my mortgage before my son graduates from high school. Once my car is paid off then I’ll snowball my payments on the house. I’m hoping I can pay off my car very soon.
