Z is for Zion

ABC Wednesday is a meme I have loved to take part in in the past. When I checked it out today, it is at the end of it’s current round at the letter Z and I immediately thought of our recent trip during the holiday break which included a drive through Zion National Park in Utah.
It was not part of our original travel plans but when we realized we could actually have a glimpse of the park while driving to our actual destination of Page, Arizona from Las Vegas by adding a couple of additional hours, we decided to drive through. And we were so glad we did!

Zion was a winter wonderland! Zion was winter in all her glory personified. We took the recommended six mile scenic drive in the park – which took us over an hour to complete with the stops we made, and the photos I had to take, as well as the slower traffic – lots of people also enjoying Zion’s beauty. We plan to take a longer trip in spring some year when we can hike it’s beautiful trails. Every scenic stretch of the road driving through the park (and not just the six mile drive) was breath takingly beautiful. There is a mile long tunnel which was a fun drive and while icy roads meant we were driving real careful, it was a totally worth additional (in total, at the end, way longer than we had thought) four hours.

Here are a couple of photos of Zion.
