The Forecast Says Rain…

for foreseeable future,
sigh!
those pitter-patter
raindrops, so un-
light,
they lock you in;
as dreariness outside
seeps within.

i wander through rooms
looking for escape
from drear-inspired glooms,
right into a landscape
of brightness that cheers.
my heart has a smile
now, it appears.

‘thank you’ sweetheart
for your sweet art!

For the dverse prompt, Lillian asks us to write a poem about something that hangs on a wall, that speaks to us today. The weather outside is frightful (don’t mean to remind you of Christmas music again, but it is kind of true – not frightful really, just dreary!). And bright colors always seem like the medicine to cheer you right up. My tween spends all her free time arting and crafting and I find new creations up on her wall or in nooks and crannies around her room almost every time I walk in there.. and I am glad.

This also goes towards ABC Wednesday – Round 24 – the letter A, Ultimate Blog Challenge, day 9 (day 8 post is coming too!)

  1. I like the bright colors of your tween’s drawings. If it were raining more here, I’d probably agree with the sentiment of your poem. So far only every other day or two. Wish it were daily so I can do a bunch of indoor projects and finish them. 🙂

  2. Beautiful poem. Loved the hope in these lines –
    I wander through rooms
    looking for escape
    from drear-inspired glooms,
    right into a landscape
    of brightness that cheers
The accompanying art is bright and cheerful and I am sure they bring a smile 🙂

  3. I picked the poem on your Sunday list. It was a fun skip through emotions and weather. I like the ending, sweetheart art! I use to link to dVerse but then they changed their open link day to Thursday and I do Thirteen Thursday on that day, so I know link to Poets United (Sunday) and Imaginary Garden with Real Toads (Tuesday). Nice to meet you!
